It's Not Too Late to Turn Back Now

Don't let the mainstream media gatekeepers tell you this race is over and that John McCain is the inevitable presidential nominee of the Republican Party. We can't afford to nominate a RINO (Republican in name only). Don't just cast votes of assent based on decisions made by voters in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida. Remember that McCain used dubious tactics to win in Florida. Let's not reward him for it.

Don't be influenced by the rash of endorsements McCain is getting from various governors, senators, congressman, and other muckety-mucks. Where were these endorsements for McCain last summer when he was struggling? He's the same man now that he was back then -- the only thing that's changed is his standing in the polls. Obviously, these people are just jumping on his bandwagon now because they think he's going to win. They are hoping for quid-pro-quo favors like cabinet appointments and ambassadorships once he's elected. They are not standing up for principle; they are looking out for their own political careers. Politicians are like rats that jump from sinking ships and swim toward those that they believe will stay afloat. Like one commentator recently observed, these people are not exactly profiles in courage.

Don't let the Republican Party be branded with the mark of McCain. Let's stop him now. Let's help Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Ron Paul wage a type of political guerilla warfare against McCain, working hard for every possible delegate to keep them away from his grasp. It can be done if each voter would ignore all the media hype and vote his or her conscience. Indeed, real Republicans are not falling in love with John McCain, so it's not too late to turn back now.

Great article, Terry! I read the first sentence to my husband as we were recently discussing that very thing. And now, here in Texas, we are hearing radio ads touting "Ron Paul for President" and "Ron Paul for Congress" within hours of each other. While he is not my first choice, it is still hard to take him seriously with these 'just in case' ads. My first choice, sadly, doesn't really have a presence in Texas and each day brings more discouragement for this conservative. Thanks for the pep talk. I needed it.
