The Stress-Free Lifestyle You Deserve?

The other day, I heard a radio ad from one of those companies that purports to be able to get people out from under their load of debt. Part of their tag line included a promise to allow people to achieve the "stress-free lifestyle you deserve." I have a couple of problems with that.
First, most people are already experiencing the lifestyle they deserve. I realize there are some exceptions, including those who have been victims of war, illness, violence, theft, and similar maladies. But, in general, I've found that people get what they deserve out of life.
Second, even if someone were able to wave a magic wand and make some people debt-free in an instant, many of them would find themselves in the same predicament within days. Unless their attitude about money and debt changed, getting them out of debt would prove to be only a temporary solution. It would like cleaning up a pig. A clean pig is still a pig, so it wouldn't be long before the animal would find another mud hole to wallow in.

On the other hand, I had a friend many years ago who was a millionaire, lost all his money through no fault of his own, then became a millionaire again within a couple years.David, you are so right. That's why the so-called "war on poverty" has been such a gigantic failure. We have to do more than give people handouts; we have to change the way they think.
Yes Terry, you are right, many would BUT NOT ALL. We always tend to leave out and go right to the spend mentality which has been fostered on this society for eon's. As soon as someone emerges from debt right in the mail box that usury Credit Card. Isee it as entrapment. Now some will say they need counsel, really. Well lets start with our leaders. Yes you are right, we are way far too gone. As for me, I was a great customer until last year. Thens when, my rates went up to 21.9% because I maintained too high a balance, even though they got paid on time and made money. Then they cut my credit, froze the accounts, you know the story of the friendly banker, or then again I hope not. No this will not change until our culture changes. Sadly we are a credit driven society where many no longer have credit. The way of the gun seems to be growing. Best wishes.
