We Need More Law Expungers

Congressman, senators, and state representatives make laws. They do this because they assume that this is their job. It's no wonder they make such an assumption. After all, we call them lawmakers. However, we should be sending them to Washington and their respective state capitals to expunge existing laws, not make more.

There are far too many laws – federal, state, and local – already on the books. Our elected officials' time would be better spent deleting a portion of them. I would estimate that about 40% of the laws that are currently in effect are either unnecessary, foolish, or have long since become outdated. Instead of improving our lives, they detract from our overall quality of life. They are overdue for obliteration.

Every legislative session in this country should include a "tea party" during which bad laws are erased. This would be more than enough to keep all of our elected officials busy. Happy days would soon be here again.
