Twelve Politically Correct Things I've Learned on TV

American TV is now dominated by political correctness. That's the primary reason why I watch very l
ittle of it these days. However, I have watched enough of it in recent years to learn all of the following "precepts":

1) All burglary, drunk driving, theft, and violent crime are committed by white males.

2) There is absolutely no downside to going green.

3) Education is the answer to all of mankind's ills.

4) Born-again, evangelical Christians are all hypocrites.

5) Most, if not all, of the nation's wing nuts and wackos can be found in the conservative Republican ranks.

6) One religion is as valid (or invalid) as another.

7) Capitalism is bad; pure capitalism is an abomination.

8) Although somewhat essential to the family unit, a father is by far the dumbest member thereof.

9) There's no real difference between homophobia and racism.

10) Corporal punishment is tantamount to child abuse.

11) The sure path to heaven is to be philanthropic and fight for social justice, regardless one's personal character flaws and/or lack of a belief in God.

12) The rich are evil unless they give back much of what they have "taken" from society.

Whoa! this piece stands up all on its own and walks around. GOOD job - now I know why we haven't had TV basically since the mid 80s and haven't missed much, have we? (We read much!)  Love the formatting and "bit bites...." makes the point even pointy-er Marijo (Mary Jo - dad was a creative speller)

Marijo (or Mary Jo if you prefer), thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you liked it. I stopped watching a lot of TV when I got Internet access.

Nah, I have been Marijo for years - just that people new to the name stumble over it.... Should have spelled it MariJo years ago but at 63 it is a bit late to change that I think.

Thanks, Teej, I'm glad you liked it. But I'm not a Republican, I'm a conservative-leaning libertarian.
