Hypocritical Calderon Lectures U.S.

Last Thursday, Mexican President Felipe Calderon stood alongside President Obama before a joint session of Congress and lectured the U.S. about its immigration policies. He especially attacked Arizona for its new immigration law. Now is that the pot calling the kettle black or what? Those who don't see this as blatant hypocrisy are blind with no hope of ever gaining their sight.

Calderon is president of a country that has some of the most draconian immigration laws on the entire earth. Mexico jails illegal immigrants for anywhere from to two to ten years. That country unapologetically discriminates against certain types of people, such as those who are not in good health, by forbidding them to cross its borders. When it comes to immigration, ethnic and racial profiling is the law of the land there. Yet this bozo is going lecture us on immigration?

The sad part was this guy was invited to speak in the first place. Even worse, his remarks were applauded by President Obama and many members of Congress. They all must have been wearing "kick me" signs on the seats of their pants. I find this completely outrageous! Instead of being applauded, he should have been booed, or even escorted out of the place. What are we going to do next, invite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran to lecture us on human rights? Hey, it makes about as much sense.

Yeah. Maybe US should go to war with Mexico, and everyone else that doesn't agree with US. After all, whites know best. Whites are the greatest. Whites are God's chosen people (or is that the Jews?) I get confused about God's favorites sometimes. Allah too.

Adios amigo.

Sure Mexico is imperfect, but so are we. We can learn from Calderon, and he can learn from us. This article is unnecessarily defensive about an area we could improve. Suggesting that we boo the Mexican President proves we aren't a very adult society.

Okay Boris, try this consistency test:

Suppose the president of BP got up before Congress and lectured them about their poor stewardship of the environment. Would you say he should not be booed? Would you say that we can learn from him and he from us? If you say that's a silly comparison, then you are as much of a hypocrite as Calderon is.

Terry right to the point. It seems many in America don't seem to understand that this  anger is not directed becuase of racec. These poor people, not only by finances but exploitation are the fodder for cheap labor and abuse by their own country. Now what has mexico done for their own for ages? Zero, nada, nothing. He talks of gun control as if we are all stupid. Does he not know these  weapons are for sale all over the world by evil people and powers? You bet he does but I sometimes wonder about some Americans. We, America have given them our jobs, factories and money and they still pour over the border. Buy American, really, check the label and the parts on your all American car. Yes and that border by the way that will remain open even after they pass, yes pass the new immigration law. Why has McCain switched sides, survival. Now what ever happened to character, morality, honesty, yes and Christianity when our very schools do NOT TEACH to sin, evil the breaking of law? We, the America taxpayer even pays for their childrens education? Why not have Mexico pay for their citizens? Yes truth, shall become evil and evil shall become good. It seems a fulfillment right before our eyes. Good job.

Wow, this comment is almost as racist as the article. I think these people are all academic, all they know is what they read, and if they had to live on the streets would last only five minutes. No street smarts, just conceptual dream worlds. Go live in a barrio for a few days. Make some Latino friends.Or are Latinos below ya'll?

Mr. Mitchell, great article. I was as amazed as you are/were that we INVITED this clown to come to our country to insult OUR laws. This just shows me, that once again, this president, his staff , and the congress that is in place, are just a bunch of self absorbed idiots.
