Why Criticize the Duggars?

Many people are familiar with the Duggar family of reality TV fame. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar head up this super-sized family of 21, to which the 19th child was recently born. Of course, along with this child came the customary criticism that also followed the births of child number 18, number 17, number 16, number 15, and so on.
Naturally, it was the tired old argument about bringing kids into the world when so many of those who are already here are orphaned, starving, and/or neglected. Margaret Sanger would have been so proud of such haughtiness and pious disapproval of people who don't utilize birth control.
And the Duggar children have the support and nurture of both parents. Again, there are many kids who are not so lucky. One-parent households are becoming more and more common to due to the modern plagues of divorce and out-of-wedlock births. Granted, many single parents do a great job, but they are generally no match for a mother and a father.
But the most important thing of all is that the Duggars are raising their children in a Christian home and are instilling into them values that will benefit them for a lifetime. Contrast that to the way many contemporary parents leave it to their kids to "make their own decisions about religion and spirituality." This lack of parental guidance is nothing more than a copout that leaves children completely secular-minded, a condition which could be costly to them later in life. Thank God the Duggars understand this.
In addition, unlike most reality programs, their TV show focuses on the positive aspects of family life and does not glorify such things as violence, profanity, idolatry, greed, drunkenness, premarital/extramarital sex, and other forms of ungodliness. So I say hooray for the Duggars. We need more parents like them, whether they have one child or 19.
