New Orleans Saints: Last Year’s Football Team

I have some bad news for New Orleans Saints fans and others who enjoyed seeing that team win the Super Bowl last season. It ain't gonna happen again anytime soon. The Saints are last year's football team. Sure, they have a talented team, but they would never have accomplished what they did last year without a whole lot of luck (and a whole lot of turnovers by their opponents).

That luck will not continue this season. The law of averages will see to that. They will probably not even make the playoffs this season. That's been a trend among recent Super Bowl champs. Look at last year's Pittsburgh Steelers, for example. Remember, they had won the Super Bowl the previous season, but were left on the outside looking in when the playoffs began in January.

However, the Steelers did make a run at the playoffs, but fell just short. The Saints, on the other hand, might be fortunate just to finish with a winning record. They could even be facing a disastrous season, after which many of their fans might want to rename them the "Katrinas" or the "Oil Spills."
