Quit Whining About the Ground Zero Mosque

This is a message to my fellow conservatives. When did you all start acting like whiney liberals? Since when did you become so concerned about sensitivity issues? Sensitivity, schmensitivity. I don't give a flying flip about that kind of stuff, and neither should you. I thought you believed in religious freedom. I thought you placed a high value on private property rights.

You might not realize this, but you are giving conservatism a black eye by trying to stop the construction of a mosque (or whatever they're planning to call it) near Ground Zero in New York City. If a Muslim group built one there, what is that to you? Yes, it might offend you and many of the families who lost loved ones on 9/11, but you all are just going to have to suck it up this time.

I think it's quite ironic and laughable that you would accuse your opponents on this issue of political correctness. You, my friends, are the ones who are being politically correct. Let me remind you that one of the basic tenets of political correctness the idea that we should attempt to prevent people from getting their feelings hurt at all cost. Don't tell me you are now buying into this garbage. It certainly does look that way.

But there is a concept in this country that we should all value more than political correctness, feelings, sensitivity, or whatever. And we of all people ought to understand this concept. It's called freedom. You are constantly giving lip service to words like freedom and liberty. Now it's time to start practicing what you preach by leaving these people alone. Those Muslims own that land and they have a right to build whatever freaking thing they want to on it, whether you guys like it or not.

And I am disappointed with people like Jay Sekulow and his cronies, who claim to be defenders of religious freedom. This was an opportunity for them to demonstrate some consistency, but they have failed miserably. They have shown themselves to be nothing more than hypocrites and demagogues. Yes, they'll defend religious freedom alright but only if that religion happens to be Christianity. They have nothing but animosity in their hearts for Muslims.

Sure, that Imam who is heading up that group that wants to build this structure may have a dubious history, but that's beside the point. We can deal with that separately. A building, no matter where it may be erected, will have nothing do with whether or not he succeeds at bringing Sharia Law to the U.S. That's just a red herring and you know it. So, for you whiners who want to prevent that mosque from being built, I have three words: Get over it.

I'm also sick of people who keep throwing out the number of dead in 9/11. What about the HORDES of innocent people that have died since our little foray into iraq. The body count of the innocent is in the millions, mostly families of women and children. And for those ZIonists, guess what, Islam is the largest religion on the planet, get over it.

I'm sorry Terry, but you just don't get what is happening here. Islam wants to take over the world and install Sharia law. They have already taken over Great Britian, Holland, etc..and even Michigan is now an Islamic state! They are abusing our freedom laws to get there way into America. You have no idea how Islam is spreading and how dangerous this religion is. Please view the documentaries : Islam: What the West Needs to Know, or Islam Rising. You can view the former on Netflix instant player and the latter on you tube.

Jennifer, I'll view that first documentary on Netlfix when I get a chance. However, I'm sorry to hear that you have now gone over the edge. That statement about Michigan being an Islamic state is solid evidence that you are in dire need of emotional, psychological, and spirital help. Even the nut cases on Fox News don't make such wild-eyed claims (as far as I know). I can only pray that you will get the help you need - and soon.

Islam hasn't taken over Britain just yet :)

Extreme, fundamentalist interpretations of Islam are dangerous, but then so are fundamentalist interpretations that exist within other religions (the extreme anti-contraception stance of the Catholic church is causing a lot of death and suffering in the developing world for example).

To say Great Britain and Holland have been "taken over" by Islam is simply incorrect. In the UK, the Muslim population is around 2.4 million, out of a total population of over 60 million.

It would be more accurate (though equally pointless) to say the UK has been "taken over" by Christianity. This actually happened, although quite a long time ago, but it has lasted a long time and it doesn't look like Islam is likely to "take over" any time soon, with just over 50% of the population today being Christian and only a few % being Muslim.

When people you agree with use your freedom laws, that's ok, but when people you disagree with use them that's "abuse" of the freedom laws? That doesn't sound like freedom to me!

Statements like "taken over Great Britain" and "Michigan is now an Islamic state" are nothing more than ill-informed scaremongering.
