On Herman Cain, the Media, and Sexual Harassment Allegations

Before getting to the sexual harassment allegations, I would like to comment on the mainstream media's lack of understanding of Herman Cain’s web ad in which his campaign manager lights up a cigarette. One commentator said he didn’t know what to make of it. Another called it “truly bizarre.” These people are such slaves to political correctness that they are completely baffled anytime they encounter something that doesn’t conform to it.

Since the advent of political correctness, things that used to be viewed as completely normal are now seen as weird, and vice versa. For example, if Cain had instead created ad featuring a transgendered, drug-addicted atheist, the media would have applauded him. But some people have not bought into that garbage, and Herman Cain is one of them. Three cheers for Mr. Cain, as he continues to stump the media experts.

Now the media’s latest attack on Cain could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for him – assuming he plays his cards right. Revelations of sexual harassment claims against Cain from 12+ years ago have recently been surfaced by Politico and picked up by the mainstream media. Cain acknowledges the charges made against him by two women while he was president of the National Restaurant Association, but says they were unfounded. Those charges were later settled by that group with at least one of the women, although Cain says he has never sexually harassed anyone. Since then, it has been reported that a third woman has come forward with similar allegations against Mr. Cain.

However, Cain still seems to enjoy the full support of his conservative backers. Many of them see this as nothing more than another vendetta-style attack on a conservative African-American by the liberal-leaning media. In fact, this attack may actually solidify his standing with many of those who were previously soft in their support for him. Of course, the outcome will greatly depend on how Cain ultimately handles this issue.

He needs to quit beating around the bush, put his foot down, and stop this merry-go-round of allegations followed by explanations. He needs to be more aggressive in his response to the sexual harassment allegations being leveled against him. Like they say, “the best defense is a good offense.” Speaking as Herman Cain below, this is how I would respond to anyone who has accused me of sexual harassment:

Go ahead, make my day. Bring it on. Hit me with your best shot. But I expect you to state your complaints to me face-to-face and in a public forum. No hiding behind a lawyer or making anonymous statements. I deserve the right to face my accuser. And don’t delay. Let’s get it all out in the open right now.

I don’t think you can accuse me of anything that I can’t easily explain away. I have done nothing wrong, so I have absolutely nothing to worry about. If anyone has to worry about anything, it’s you. You should be concerned that I’ll make you look foolish. Even worse, I might even make you look like a bald faced liar in front of the entire world. So come on. I challenge you. I dare you. I double-dog dare you. What are you waiting for? It’s time to put up or shut up.

Great article Terry. And these are the ones that fought for the president who had oral sex performed on him in the Oval Office. These are the same ones who pulled every trigger they could find on Clarence Thomas. One of Cains accusers has already been shown to be a poor employee.

And besides, these claims were presented just shortly after Congress had passed a much too vague law authorizing suits against anyone using their position to sexually harrass a subordinate

There were far too many money-for-nothing.employees waiting for it. As I said in my article, if this the worst thing they can find on Herman Cain, he must be one fine fellow.

Joel, you are right. Until one of those women comes out personally and makes a convincing case against Cain, I'm going to consider it nothing more than a smear campaign.

Hey man, you are talking bout stuff that normally is not displayed or chatted about. We are in a POST HARRASSMENT ERA. It's been too many decades. I am not saying that any of th sting of sexual harrassment as gone away. I am saying that this old dirty funny smellling rag is not going to do anything except cause liberals too get all giggly happy.

Cain is not the smoothest campaign, but god awlamighty, he is out there., and you know what. they are mad. The fact that they are mad is what makes the difference.
